The Gospel Stars of Greensboro have been making a joyful sound for the Lord for over 70 years.  They have been led by Deacon Jesse Johnson since 1997, who is now joined by the gifted vocalists John Rudd, Craig Spence and Robert Melvin and backed by a rock-solid band.  This beloved group has shared the stage with the likes of gospel legends Shirley Caesar, the Jackson Southernaires and the Mighty Clouds of Joy, as well as such secular singing groups as the Temptations, Platters and the Drifters.  Most recently, the Gospel Stars participated in a gospel summit at the North Carolina Folk Festival, which like Richmond traces its origins to the National Folk Festival.  This will mark the group’s first performance at the Richmond Folk Festival and promises to be one not to miss.
