Kid Pan Alley

Kids/Family Friendly
Washington D.C. AND Virginia

Kid Pan Alley will be performing at the Richmond Folk Festival Family Area Stage on Sunday, September 29th at 2:15.

Kid Pan Alley began 25 years ago with a songwriting residency at Rappahannock Elementary led by Trapezoid’s Paul Reisler. The 60 songs they wrote there have grown into a catalog of over 2,800 songs written, 2 musicals, and 6 albums written with over 80,000 kids across the country from Virginia to Hawai’i.

Their mission is to inspire and empower children to work together to become creators of their own music and to rekindle creativity as a core value in education. The songs, reflecting kids’ unique perspectives, have been recorded by many artists including Amy Grant, Sissy Spacek, Kix Brooks, Pinchas Zukerman, and Delbert McClinton. They’ve won numerous awards including multiple Parents’ Choice Gold Awards, and a Grammy nomination.

Recently, they led workshops at Pleasants Lane Elementary in Petersburg, with some students set to perform with them at the Richmond Folk Festival.

Paul Reisler has had a 50-year long career, performing in over 3,500 concerts and recording nearly three dozen albums. He’ll be performing with vocalist Cheryl Reisler and trumpet virtuoso John Dearth, who has performed on over 70 recordings with artists including Bruce Hornsby, Buddy Rich, Lionel Hampton, Miles Davis, Quincy Jones, and Tito Puente.
